We just did a long weekend at Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada to finish up Ada’s winter school break week. I was a little hesitant doing a weekend trip like this over a school break because places like this can be a little nuts, and although the hotel was sold out all weekend and it was crowded, we really never felt like it was too much or too crazy.
Its such a super easy drive for us to cross into Canada and once we were at the resort I felt like we were worlds away from reality. Everything we needed was right there at the resort.
The food was really good, it wasn’t crazy overpriced like I expected, however eating out 3 meals a day with a family can really add up. We saved time and money by bringing a bunch of our own quick breakfast things like cereal and oatmeal, PB+J sandwich stuff and some microwave mac n’ cheese, along with all our own snacks. We also stopped at the duty free and brought our own wine too!
The waterpark opened at 9am and we were sure to be there right at opening each day in order to snag pool chairs right by the wave pool which was centrally located and we could sit back and let them play while being able to see at all times.
The waterpark was amazing for all ages. Even Holly had a blast swimming, splashing in the kiddie pools, splash pads and riding the lazy river with me. Ada enjoyed a couple of the medium sized slides and Dan and I even took turns and did some of the big slides.
Outside the waterpark, the resort had tons to do, Ada LOVED the MagiQuest games where she got to act like Harry Potter all weekend, we bowled, played in the arcade and ate ice cream!
We had such a fun weekend and it was really awesome to have something like this so close to home, where we felt like we were far away but when it was time to come home, we popped in the car and a half hour later we were home sweet home again!!
